Aaron Bennett in Crow (bakasana) to Handstand Press
Posted by admin in Asanas & Postures on May 1, 2010
Hey All! This is a quick video I made. Here are some tips to get into it… Jumping into handstand…Engage your arms and keep them straight and strong. Next, your hips must come up high. If you feel like you’re going to fall over, that’s where you want your hips. Practice this “pike” position with a friend spotting you or near a wall. Press the floor away from your in handstand. Engage your abs. It helps me to use my fingers for minor adjustments. In the end, you must practice practice practice. One day you’ll “magically” get it. Pressing into Bakasana, it helps to have your arms straight and belly tucked in and engaged. The more bent your arms are, the more arm strength it will take to press up. For me it feels like I’m hinging at the waist. Once the weight is tilted forward, my legs easily come up. Again, practice with a partner if you can. Keep building your arm and core strength! And most importantly, have FUN!! For more videos and other helpful hints about yoga postures that I won’t be putting on YouTube, please send an email to AaronYoga@getresponse.com Namaste
